Daylilies and a Happy Birthday Wish: June Meeting

Happy 93rd Birthday to Kitty Belshaw!

The June Meeting of the North Toronto Horticultural Society was truly extra special.  It was NTHS member Kitty Belshaw's 93rd birthday.  Members sang a rousing "Happy Birthday" before diving into a delicious cake.  Congratulations Kitty and thank you for letting us share your special day with you.

Reggie Morgan of Ridley Gardens fascinated members with her presentation on modern daylilies. Reggie has likely inspired a few North Toronto members to try their hand at hybridizing. Perhaps a member of North Toronto will the force behind the next, exciting daylily sensation.

The June Flower and Design Show was a smaller show than usual as many of our biggest contributors were away but the selections in competition were outstanding nevertheless.

Christine Moore won Best in Show
in Design for her novice class
entry called "Sailing."

A big thank you to all the members who helped make the June Show a success.  The next chance to show off your flowers and designs comes in September.  The Annual Show is North Toronto's biggest show of the year and it is open to the public.  It's a great way to show everyone what North Toronto Hort is all about.

The July Members' Garden Tour and Potluck is fast approaching.  Stay tuned for details and sneak peek photos in the days to come.

Happy Gardening.
